Global Exchange Group was founded in 1996 in Fuentes de Oñoro (Salamanca) a border town between Spain and Portugal. The company is owned by the fourth generation of the Alanís family, which has been involved in different business activities since the 19th century.
One of its most significant achievements was the Eurocentro Alanís Shopping Centre – opened in 1970 in Fuentes de Oñoro -, a meeting point for many international tourists who needed to exchange currency before travelling to Portugal or on their way to Spain. The idea of starting a new business specialising in providing foreign exchange services was born in this context.
In 2002, when the Euro was introduced, Global Exchange decided to begin an ambitious internationalisation development process starting in Latin America, followed by Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Australia and Asia, reaching the 26 countries in which it is currently present (operating in 24 countries and preparing to start operations in Peru).
The unstoppable expansion of Global Exchange has been possible thanks to our business and our organization itself, which has been adding up human and IT resources throughout the years.
All along our growth and expansion our seven corporate principles have guided our steps, under the supervision of the Board of Directors.
