- The exhibition celebrates in Madrid the 800 years of the University of Salamanca.
- Scripta, one of the most valuable handwritten text selection preserved by the University Library will be unveiled to the general public
Salamanca, 18th April 2017.- Global Exchange, the Spanish multinational specialised in foreign exchange services will sponsor “Scripta: Handwritten Treasures of the University of Salamanca” in an exhibition held from 4th May to 4th June in the National Library of Madrid to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the University of Salamanca.The agreement was signed in the Portrait Hall of the University of Salamanca and was attended by the University’s Rector Daniel Hernández Ruipérez and Global Exchange President Isidoro J. Alanís along with President of Grupo Feltrero, another sponsor of the exhibition.
This collaboration will showcase for the first time a selection of the finest handwritten texts retained by the Historical General Library of the University of Salamanca, such as the “Liber mozarabicus canticorum et horarum”, copied in 1059 for Queen Sancha, wife of Ferdinand I and inherited by her daughter Doña Urraca, and the “Book of Good Love” one of the Masterpieces of Early Spanish Literature, written by of Juan Ruiz, Archpriest of Hita.

On this special occasion Global Exchange partnered up with the University for the exhibition in the National Library in Madrid in an attempt to raise awareness of the institution’s heritage. “We’re happy to be part of this celebration and we hope we can be part of the future of the University of Salamanca”.
