Global Exchange serves 50% more Customers in 2014

  • The firm serviced 3.6 million Customers, 1.2 million more than 2013.
  • Global Exchange adds three new countries to its network: Jordan, Brazil and Colombia.

Salamanca, 10th February 2015.- Global Exchange, one of the three leading companies worldwide in the foreign exchange industry specialised at international airports and other important tourist areas has increased the number of Customers served in 2014 by 50%, reaching 3.6 million, 1.2 million more than the previous year.

Global Exchange President, Isidoro J. Alanís, explained that 2014 “has been the best year in the Global Exchange history, having surpassed by far the goals set out”. During 2014 “have expanded our business to new countries such as Jordan, Brazil and Colombia, so we are present in 15 already, 3 more than in 2013 with a 152-branch network across 4 continents” stated Alanís.

This growth has allowed the Salamanca-based multinational increase its staff by 30%, ending 2014 with 1,333 employees, 293 more than in 2013.

The foreign exchange turnover recorded by Global Exchange in the past year totaled 502 million euros, representing an increase of 50% over the figure for 2013, which closed at 335 million euros.

In addition, Global Exchange reached a profit before tax of 6.5 million euros in 2014, an increase of 77% compared to 2013. EBITDA reached 10 million euros, 78% more than in the previous year, which closed with 5.6 million euros.

Meanwhile, net operating profit increased by 76%, reaching 7.42 million euros. Investment by Global Exchange in 2014 amounted to 5 million euros, 66% more than in the previous year, a figure expected to increase over 2015.

Consolidating its position in the Spanish market

Throughout 2014, Global Exchange has strengthened its presence in Spain with the opening of 7 branches at Barcelona – El Prat Airport, 4 of them in Terminal 1 and 3 of them in Terminal T2, and two branches at Tenerife Sur Airport, where the company has just begun its activity.

This is how Global Exchange consolidates its leadership as the most important foreign exchange company in Spain, with a total of 27 branches in six major airports: Madrid – Barajas T123 and T4, Barcelona – El Prat T1 and T2, Alicante-Elche, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife Sur. Through these airports the firm has access to 62% of total passenger traffic in Spain.

In this sense, Isidoro J. Alanis has reaffirmed the commitment of the company for Spain, “where just three years ago we only had one branch and now it generates 27% of turnover of the group, hiring 350 people”.
