Salamanca, 9th April 2019.- Global Exchange, the Spanish multinational specialised in the provision of currency exchange services at international airports and other major tourist destinations, has achieved an important milestone in its history with the beginning of its work at the Istanbul New Airport, the fifth most important airport in Europe in terms of air traffic.
The investment of 38 million euro, along with the opening of 41 branches and the recruitment of 400 people for this ambitious project, make the Turkish subsidiary one of the largest of the Global Exchange Group.
According to its President, Isidoro J. Alanís: “This is our largest expansion project both in terms of number of branches and of duration of the contract. At the Global Exchange Group, we have strongly committed to Turkey, as we are convinced that the evolution of the Turkish Lira assures a double digit growth of tourism in the upcoming years. Turkey will become again one of the main tourist destinations worldwide”.
After more than fifty years of service, Atatürk Airport closed its gates for the last time on the early hours of Saturday, 7th April, and all flights were transferred to the Istanbul New Airport, in which Global Exchange has established itself as the main operator for the foreign currency exchange service.
The Istanbul New Airport has positioned itself as the first aerodrome in Turkey and the fifth in Europe by air traffic, just behind Heathrow (London), Charles de Gaulle (Paris), Schiphol (Amsterdam) and Frankfurt.
Global Exchange Group is present in this country since 2017, when it opened its branches at Antalya International Airport. With this long-term contract, the multinational based on Salamanca reaffirms its commitment to the country for the coming years.
