OUR HISTORY
From Fuentes de Oñoro to the world
In 1996, Global Exchange was founded in Fuentes de Oñoro (Salamanca, Spain) to provide international travellers with a fast, secure, and efficient foreign exchange service while they were passing through the town, which is located on the border between Spain and Portugal.
In just three years, we were able to expand our presence to 16 offices in Spain, but the arrival of the euro as the single currency in Europe forced us to reinvent ourselves and write a new chapter in our history: internationalization.
Thus, in 2001, we began our activity in Argentina, where we opened 11 offices in its main airports. From that moment on, our expansion has been constant and continues to this day.
Today, Global Exchange Group is on five continents as a world-leading company offering currency exchange solutions to more than twelve million customers worldwide.

THE ALANÍS FAMILY
Business legacy
Global Exchange Group is the culmination of the vision and work of a family of entrepreneurs: the Alanís family, who for four generations have been dedicated to entrepreneurial activity.
In the 70s, Juan Antonio Alanís Patiño, the father of the current generation, founded the Eurocentro Alanís shopping centre in Fuentes de Oñoro (Salamanca). That was the begginingg of a leading multinational company and a global benchmark in the currency exchange sector.
The current President and CEO of Global Exchange Group is Isidoro J. Alanís Marcos, who has been involved in the currency exchange business since its beginnings and is responsible for its growth, positioning and global presence, with a strong base of innovation and technological development. His work is also notable for conveying the strength and importance of his corporate principles to all aspects of the business and all its components.
His entrepreneurial and family heritage translates into strong and deep-rooted values that apply and are common to all the countries where Global Exchange operates: integrity, honesty, the importance of people, an excellent service, continuous improvement and constant innovation.
