The University of Salamanca has honored Isidoro J. Alanís, President and CEO of Global Exchange Group, as an Honorary Member of Alumni-USAL, the association that brings together more than 51,000 alumni, friends, and individuals connected to one of Europe's most prestigious academic institutions: the University of Salamanca.
The appointment, approved at the General Assembly held this week in the iconic Unamuno Hall of the University of Salamanca's Historic Building, recognizes Isidoro J. Alanís's business career as President and CEO of Global Exchange, as well as his deep institutional and social commitment to Salamanca and its University.
A member of the Alumni Advisory Board since 2023, he has driven key collaboration initiatives between the University and the business world, notably his role in developing the Alumni Partner Companies program, a network that in 2025 included 46 member companies, generated over 1,200 interviews, and awarded 160 scholarships to alumni.
A distinction shared with distinguished figures
Isidoro J. Alanís shares this recognition with three other nationally and internationally prominent individuals:
• Sara García Alonso, CNIO researcher, University of Salamanca PhD graduate, and the first Spanish female astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA).
• Bernardo García-Bernalt, University professor and director of the University Choir for 35 years.
• Marisa Fernández Armenteros, audiovisual producer and winner of the 2026 Goya Award for Best Picture for "Los Domingos."
With this appointment, Isidoro J. Alanís joins a select group of honorary members that, since 1973, has included figures such as former Spanish Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez, former European Parliament President José María Gil-Robles, former Spanish national football team manager Vicente del Bosque, Iberdrola Chairman Ignacio Sánchez Galán, former President of the Republic of Panama Arístides Royo, and former Ibero-American Secretary-General Enrique Iglesias, among other distinguished professionals, academics, and social leaders.
Business commitment and international reach
This distinction recognizes Isidoro J. Alanís as one of Salamanca's most internationally prominent entrepreneurs, whose career combines business vision with a firm commitment to his city and university, fostering young talent and university graduate employability.
This recognition reflects the values that define Global Exchange as an organization: commitment to people, society, and talent development.
