Global Exchange Group - leading company in foreign exchange at international airports - has started to operate its foreign currency trading services at Sofia International Airport, the capital of Bulgaria. The airport is connected to more than 80 cities in 36 countries, mainly in Europe, but also in North Africa, the Middle East and America.
From today, three Global Exchange offices will be available in the arrivals hall of the two terminals. Over 8 million passengers a year will have up to 15 international currencies to choose from in this airport.
With Bulgaria, the Group - founded in the border town of Fuentes de Oñoro in 1996- now operates in 25 countries and 68 major international airports. Some of its most important hubs are Sydney, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly), Madrid, Mexico City and Santiago de Chile, as well as an important network of offices in areas of great tourist affluence (historic city centres, ports, train stations...) in countries such as Spain, France, Mexico and Colombia.
Global Exchange closed 2023 with a turnover of €250m and 12 million customers worldwide, and by 2024 it expects to reach 420 offices, extending its network both in the countries where it is already and in new markets. Recently, Lima Airport Partners announced that Global Exchange will be the company in charge foreign exchange services in the new airport terminal of the Peruvian capital, which is expected to be inaugurated on 18 December.
‘The opening in Bulgaria, and in an airport as important as Sofia, is a further step in our strategic plan to reach 2026 with a network of 500 offices, mainly in 84 major international airports, and 16 million customers. These figures, like the current ones, will support the excellence of our customer service model and the confidence that airport managers have in us ‘*, says Santiago Calderón, Corporate Director of Retail Business of Global Exchange Group.
